8 - IM Content Filtering

IM content filtering allows an administrator to:

To configure your IM content filter:

  1. Navigate to Enterprise IM Filter Filters

  2. Select the appropriate Organization and/or Group from the Control Pull-downs.

  3. Click Content Filter in the Side Menu (the default).

  4. Use the checkbox next to Content Filtering to enable or disable this feature.

  1. Under Action, MX Path users have the option to either Block or Allow a word or phrase on IM. If Block is chosen, this means the sender's message is at least partially (perhaps fully) blocked from being sent and a Notification and Disclaimers are sent out. If Allow is chosen for a particular word or phrase, then the message in violation is sent unaltered to its intended recipient, but a Notification and Disclaimers are sent out. Click either Block or Allow before adding words to the Content Filter.

Important: Currently, the Block and Allow functionality only operates in one mode or the other, but not both at the same time. In other words, you may continue to add words to the Phrases/Words: list; however, you will need to decide if you want this ENTIRE list of phrases and words to be BLOCKED or ALLOWED, NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. For example, if the radio button next to Block is chosen and you hit the Save button at the bottom of this section, ALL of your phrases and words will be blocked.

  1. Type the words or phrases you wish to add to your Content Filter and click the Add button. The words and/or phrases appear in a list below the field. Click Save.

To enable notifications:

  1. Use the checkboxes next to Notify Admin and/or Notify Sender to enable or disable these notifications.

  2. Type the Notification Text you would like to be sent to the user who has violated the Content Filter rules into the large field. Note the default disclaimer appears below the field. This is the text that appears to users if you enable the Notification, but leave the large field blank. Click Save.
