Once logged in with your trial or permanent administrative username and password, enabling web filtering only requires a few straightforward steps:
Steps
1-2, "Filtering Web
"
must be performed to begin filtering
Web traffic (Ports 80 & 443).
Step
3, "Securing Web Traffic
"should be done for optimal security and filtering.
Steps
4, "Operational Suggestions
" are listed at the bottom.

Create user accounts, or you may use existing accounts that have already been created by implementing other filtering services such as Email or IM (Instant Messaging). MXPath requires usernames extracted from user email addresses, see:
Redirect Web traffic by configuring your users to proxy to the Enterprise Web Filter at:
webproxy.mxpath.net:8080
You may proxy by configuring each users browser, or by using "Active Directory Group Policy" or a "Login" script to mass-deploy the proxy configuration change. See:
Proxying Clients to the Enterprise Web Filter
Proxying Clients using Group Policy or Login Script
Note that when users are proxied to the Enterprise Web Filter, users will be receive a login prompt when accessing the web. When they enter a valid username (username@mydomain.com format) and password, access will be allowed (assuming the web request isn't blocked). You may want to notify users of the web filter, see:

It is recommended, if feasible, that outbound port 80 (HTTP) and outbound port 443 (HTTPS) be blocked on your firewall after users have been configured to proxy. This forces users to access the web through the Enterprise Web Filter on port 8080. Important: if you have other applications that rely on outbound port 80, such as anti-virus or update (patch) programs, they may need to be re-configured to use a different port. Alternatively, if such applications cannot be re-configured, you may want to use Active Directory Group Policy to lock-down user proxy settings. For example, if using IE as the browser, you may further secure the user environment by dis-allowing proxy changes in the browser, see:

Once you have re-directed web traffic to the Enterprise Web Filter, customize your web filtering service by reviewing the following tasks:
Select pre-defined web categories to block, see:
In addition to selected categories, blacklist your own undesirable web sites, see:
Whitelist selected web sites, and block everything else, see:
Set up a block message that lets users know the filter is active, see:
Run monthly reports on traffic and blocking activity, see:
Perform a Web Health Check to check on web access times, see:
