1 - Proxying Browsers to Enterprise Web Filter

Administrators who have chosen to proxy each client browser to the Enterprise Web Filter can do so with the basic browser configuration information below.  Examples are included for:

Internet Explorer (IE)
Netscape

Firefox

Apple OSX (Safari)

Opera

Important: Once users are configured to proxy to the Enterprise Web Filter, you must block outbound Port 80 (HTTP) and Port 443 (SSL) traffic on your firewall if you wish to guarantee that web traffic is only going to webproxy.mxpath.net on Port 8080, which guarantees filtering. In other words, if a user isn't proxied to webproxy.mxpath.net, their web request will fail, providing a higher level of security.

Internet Explorer

In Internet Explorer, go to:

Tools Internet Options Connections, from there, click on "LAN Settings..."

Check Use a proxy server for your LAN, then click on the Advanced... button

Specify the following:

webproxy.mxpath.net on Port 8080 for HTTP and Secure (i.e., SSL)

Click OK to Save.

Netscape

In Netscape, go to:

Edit Preferences Advanced Proxies, from there, select “Manual proxy configuration

Specify the following:

webproxy.mxpath.net on Port 8080 for HTTP Proxy and SSL Proxy

Click OK to save.

Firefox

In Firefox, go to:

Tools Options Advanced Network, from there click on Settings

Tools Options General, from there click on Connection Settings (pre 2.0.0.1)

Select "Manual proxy configuration" and enter the following:

webproxy.mxpath.net on Port 8080 for HTTP Proxy and SSL Proxy, as shown below

Click OK to save.

Apple OSX

Note: OSX is different in that proxy settings are affiliated with the system, not a specific browser.

Click the Apple in upper left and pull down to System Preferences, click on Network icon

Make sure Location: is set to Automatic, and Show: is set to Built-In Ethernet, and click Proxies

Click Apply Now button to save.
